Snyder Heads West, not East
Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team’s 2016 Schedule had the team heading to GALOT Motorsports Park this weekend for the PDRA Dragstock event, but after their Supercharged, ComSyncEFI Top Sportsman Vette was victorious at the NHRA North Central Division Finals in Bowling Green, KY a couple weeks ago the schedule has changed. With the big W and some other strong finishes, the Snyder Motorsports team is now leading the NHRA Division 3 Top Sportsman Points Standings, so the Team is taking their Orange Menace to Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, IA for the NHRA Division 5 Finals which runs from September 9th through the 11th. The 5-time Season Champs are looking to improve their points total with an out of division race, collect another little Wally and finish their season with another NHRA Division Championship.
“Sometimes even the best plans change. I guess that is why our Powersource Transportation Schedule says ‘Subject to Change’ at the bottom,” Snyder smiled. “Kind of funny but before the season started, the plan was to not chase points. We were going to hit the races that were the best for Snyder Motorsports, our sponsors and our customers. As the season progressed, our ComSyncEFI and Lencodrive combination proved to be deadly consistent, the driver was doing his job most of the time and we were going rounds. So when the possibility of another Division 3 Championship surfaced, the plans changed. It’s definitely a nice problem to have. Our car is running so well right now; it’s a lot of fun to drive. If we can keep the ole’ girl going rounds, it will make it really hard for the rest of the guys in D3 to catch us.”
“We have been to Earlville a couple times with the funny car chasing points almost ten years ago. It is a really neat track: all concrete surface, tractor rides, the fans can see the whole track as they sit on a hill and a really innovative water box. It’s just down the street from the farm where the ‘Field of Dreams’ is located, too.” As the Snyder Team looks to keep their championship dreams going, the first of 3 rounds of qualifying for the NHRA Division 5 Finals begins on Friday at 2:00 PM. Qualifying continues on Saturday with one more chance to make the 32-car field at 11:00 AM with first round of eliminations to follow. The final four rounds of eliminations will be run on Sunday with a start time of 9:00 AM. For up to date results please log onto www.dragracecentral.com
