Darien & Grisel Racing
August 21, 2018
It has been a busy couple of weeks for us. After the Seattle National event we were off to Bonneville, and then back to Seattle for the Regional event.
As most of you know since your products were used in the Danny Thompson Challenger 2 project he set the world record for a piston powered vehicle at nearly 450 MPH with an exit speed of almost 460 at the 5 mile. I want to thank everyone for helping me with that. It would not have been possible without your help.
Our small block Chevy powered gas roadster did not come close to the record but we did have some fun and learned a lot.
Back to the ¼ mile. Friday’s one qualifying run gave us a promising 5.34 dropping cylinders to only 257 MPH. Saturday brought us a pair of 5.35’s still dropping cylinders and going 258 and 262. Sunday was déjà vu all over again 5.35 at 256, resulting in yet another 1st round loss to the eventual event winner, Chris Demke.
We will spend the next month checking and double checking everything checkable then go back to Woodburn for the Regional race and a couple of days of testing. September 14th, 15th & 16th.
Thank you for your help with these projects.
