Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Team headed to Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver, CO last weekend for the World Series of Pro Mod Event put on by Drag Illustrated. The Team sponsored by Evolution Race Development made the 13 hour and 800 mile trip to take on the mountain. Snyder, who hadn’t been to Bandimere since his Junior Dragster days some 20 years ago, was excited for the challenge that comes with the 8000 plus foot adjusted altitude. The 5-time Season Champ exited a little earlier than the team had hoped, but not before collecting the number one qualifier spot in the Quick Star Top Sportsman class.
“It was one great weekend, not counting my crap light second round. I was, honestly, not sure exactly what to expect with the air up there. I have a car that runs good in our Texas air. I made some changes based on some educated guessing, and it seemed to like it. We changed the gears in the Lencodrive, the overdrive on the blower and put some new Hoosiers under the ole girl. Off the trailer, the ERD Camaro ran a 6.24 at 223, which I was pretty impressed with. I haven’t raced quarter mile in a couple years, so it was a fun first lap,” Snyder exclaimed. “But, the coolest deal was I didn’t have to touch the fuel system. We run and sell ComSYNC EFI, so the amount of fuel injected into the engine is based off RPM and Boost Pressure. Since we lost boost in the thin air, the ComSYNC moved to a different part of my fuel table and leaned out the engine for me. It was a great way to test my table in some extreme conditions and really neat to see how the NGK Spark Plugs looked pretty close to the same in the mountain air.”
During qualifying the Snyder Motorsports – Evolution Race Development Supercharged, ComSync EFI, Lencodrive Camaro ran 6.205 seconds at 225.79 miles per hour to put them on the top of the final qualifying sheet. Snyder took the win in the opening round of competition with a lifting 6.264 at 222.80. In the second round, Snyder lost but ran his best pass of the weekend with a 6.193 at 227.00.
“We had a great time up there. We were able to see some old friends, finally meet some of our customers that have been with us for years and meet some new racers and teams. There were just a great bunch of guys and girls at this race in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman. The views and racing at Bandimere is second to none. It was also a great way to end the kids’ summer break.” Snyder continued, “I really enjoyed the challenge that the mountain brings to the tuning side of it. We tackled the mountain, and I am pleased with how well it all went. I can’t wait till the next World Series of Pro Mod, and I can’t thank Marty and ERD enough for what he does to support our team. I couldn’t do this without him or my wife, Lindsey. I am one lucky man to say the least!”
