Snyder Top Qualifier, Quarterfinals in Indy

Mick Snyder NHRA Indy 2 Post Race

Snyder Top Qualifier, Quarterfinals in Indy

Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team traveled just a couple short hours to Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis for the NHRA North Central Division Summer Shootout.  This was the 4th stop of the 2017 season for the reigning NHRA Division 3 Top Sportsman Champions.  It was also a double header with the makeup of the NHRA North Central Spectacle of Speed from this April.  The 6-time Season Champs and their Supercharged, ComSyncEFI Top Sportsman combination posted some near combination best numbers for the weekend.  The team fell short of the mark on Thursday with an early second round exit in the Spring race but made some great strides during the Summer race.  The Champs qualified in the Number 1 Qualifying Position in some rather interesting conditions with a 6.165 at 230.72 mph.  During final eliminations, the team fell just short during the round of eight in a good old drag race.

“It was a great weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team at Lucas Oil Raceway.  We were able to run some great numbers, make some consistent laps and try some new ideas with the ComSyncEFI.  The ole’ girl made it down every lap and ran within 5 or 6 hundredths over four days with changing weather conditions.  I’m pretty excited.  We clearly have our racecar back to her old self again.  I wish we had the time at the shop to hit about ten more races,” Snyder laughed.  “It was really a great weekend, but that happens when your car is running good, bulbs are lighting up on your wall, the family is having fun racing together and our Snyder Motorsports’ customers are doing well.  We even had customers with number one qualifiers, a few with final round appearances and a couple taking home little Wallys!  A great weekend to say the least.”

During the Summer Shootout qualifying, the Powersource Transportation Corvette ran an impressive 6.165 seconds and 230.72 miles per hour to put them on the top of the qualifying sheet.  Snyder took the win in the opening round of competition with a dead on, lifting 6.174 at 219.44 mph effort.  In the second round, Snyder took the win with a 6.439 at 161.09 mph pass to cover his opponent.  During the round of eight, Snyder had a double O light but crossed the finish line second by a few feet in a 6.220 at 229.94 losing effort.

“We have a ton going on at the shop right now, building a couple blown Snyder Hemi Engines, servicing multiple Lencodrive Transmissions, a complete ComSyncEFI install on a customer’s Top Sportsman Camaro and an in frame service on the Powersource Transportation Corvette.  With cars and engines heading out the door, services to be performed and the next race less than two week away, it is going to be a hectic August for the Snyder Motorsports Team.”  The next event on the 2017 Snyder Motorsports - Powersource Transportation Schedule is the NHRA Lucas Oil North Central Finals on August 25th through the 27th at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY, which the Orange Menace Team won in 2016.
