TWR - Tim Wilkerson Dallas Saturday

LEVI, RAY & SHOUP NHRA Nitro Funny Car

"Notes & Quotes" from Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray & Shoup Shelby Mustang Funny Car, after Saturday's qualifying sessions in Dallas.

Tim Wilkerson had a disappointing and unsuccessful Saturday in Dallas. On both laps he launched hard and appeared to be on his way to a good run, but tire spin around the 660-mark marred each pass.

In the end, he slipped one spot and will race from the No. 8 position. He will face Alexis DeJoria in round one.

"Well, we went from being pretty smart guys yesterday to being total knuckleheads today," Wilk said. "You could make a good lap out there, but it was a fine line you had to walk and just a few teams were able to do it really cleanly. We just had too much out there and it drove right into spin on me, both times. I don't understand it yet, because it did everything I wanted it to do except go down the track. It was going along just fine and then it just smoked the tires.

"Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler yet, and we'll be running at a time of day we haven't experienced yet, so roll the dice and take your best shots. We'll try to get it to the other end and if we get there first that will work. If she gets there first, I still really want to correct what we did wrong here today and get it there under power."
