TIM WILKERSON RUNS CONSISTENT
AND QUALIFIES IN TOP HALF OF FIELD

The Levi, Ray & Shoup  Ford Shelby Mustang driven by Tim Wilkerson qualified in the top half of the field at the 2016 Circle K NHRA Winternationals. On the fourth qualifying pass of the weekend, Wilkerson drove 3.962-seconds at 320.28 mph to put him in the No.8 position going into eliminations.

Wilkerson faced No.9 qualifier John Force in the first round of eliminations on race day. Unfortunately, the car hazed its tires in the heat of the day and Force took the round victory.

“We made four real good runs this weekend and on race day the track got away from me first round and I ended up smoking the tires. It’s not what we planned on that’s for sure,” said Wilkerson. “I don’t mind getting beat, but smoking the tires really aggravated me today, especially when I made four really nice runs. So we’ll regroup, analyze the data and get that problem fixed.”

The next race in the 2016 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series takes place outside Phoenix, where the Tim Wilkerson Racing team recently tested their Nitro Funny Car.

“All of us who tested at Wild Horse Pass are going to have the same leg up, being familiar with the track and what kind of adjustments to make to the engine,” added Wilkerson. “Hopefully we can make some decent runs again.”

After one of 24 events, Wilkerson is No.9 in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Points for Nitro Funny Car.
