Johnny Ahten and his team took home the Wally at the famed Famoso Dragstrip where the NHRA West Region has been absent for the past 11 years.
Johnny qualified in the #2 position with a 5.37 just ahead of former world champion Chris Demke. The team was able to saw their way through eliminations and face the #1 qualifier Casey Grisel in the final round. Johnny was away first with a .037 reaction time, but Grisel made that back within the first 100 feet. The two cars were locked together in a very close race with Johnny able to drive away in the last 200 feet running 5.359 279mph to Grisel's 5.362 274mph.
"Running just under 280 mph was what we needed to beat Casey by .0137 of a second!" stated Johnny.
